“THE ORIGINALS – are they only ‘was’, or can they be ‘is’ and ‘is
to come’?”
While all
true Christians would vehemently and solemnly ‘cross their heart and hope to
die’ in asserting that Christ, the
Word, “…which
was, and is, and is to come…” (Rev
4:8), is inerrant
(no error) across these three ages of the past, present
and future, they would deny this about his
words.
They
would assert that the Bible in ‘the
originals’ is perfect, infallible and inerrant, and
indeed, ‘the futures’, should they come about, also be perfect, infallible and inerrant,
however a big fat question mark hangs over ‘the present’ words, as the following table shows.
Are they
calling God a liar when he writes The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep
them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve
them from this generation for ever. Psalm
12:6-7
With the
scripture Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the
heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jeremiah 32:17, are they
suggesting there are some things
too hard for the Lord God Almighty? Apparently they are.
Blinded
by the glasses of their own reasoning, they read the Psalm scripture as
follows: The words of the LORD are pure words: ….
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for
ever so far as they have been correctly
translated.”
Psalm 12:6-7
If Christ
were to be tempted in the desert today, ‘the
originals so far as they have been correctly translated’ crowd would be prompting him from the sidelines with “Pssst! Tell
Satan ‘It was written …”
Truly
they believe:
a. There
is no final authority but God.
b. Since
God is a Spirit, there is no final authority
that can be seen, heard, read, felt or handled.
c. Since
all books are material, there is no
book on this earth that is the final and absolute authority on what is right and what is wrong: what constitutes truth and what
constitutes error.
d. There
once was a series of writings one time which, IF
they had all been put into a BOOK as soon as they
were written down the first time, WOULD
HAVE constituted an infallible, inerrant and final
e. Since
there is NO ABSOLUTE AND FINAL WRITTEN AUTHORITY that anyone can read, teach, preach or handle, the whole thing is a
matter of “PREFERENCE”. Everyone can prefer what they prefer,
I will
prefer what I prefer and you can prefer what you prefer.
f. Let us
therefore live in peace and if we cannot agree on anything or everything, let
us all agree on one thing: THERE IS NO FINAL,
ABSOLUTE, INERRANT, INFALLIBLE, WRITTEN AUTHORITY OF GOD ANYWHERE ON THIS EARTH.
Dear
Reader, has the falling away become so grave, that God, the creator of the
universe, the one who parted the Red Sea, could only preserve his words, in
partnership with our help?
