“DANIEL’S 173,880 DAYS”
“Why does God use 1 year to equal 1000 years?”

“Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment (given in 1 Nisan 445BC) to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince (Jesus rides into Jerusalem on 25 Nisan 32 AD) shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks (7x7 + 62x7 = 69 x 7 = 483 years x 360 days = 173,880 days): the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.” (Daniel 9:25)

FIRSTLY, Why does God use 1 day to represent 1000 years? 

God’s physical creation (≈ 3998 BC Unger) of 7 days … the seventh being God’s day of rest, to the rapture (≈ 2000 AD), being about 6000 years … followed by the 1000 year millennial reign … totals 7000 years.

Hence 1 day, being equal to 1000 years, shows God’s concertina time scale of the micro of 1 day, mirroring the macro of 1 year … and vice versa.

SECONDLY, Daniel’s 173,880 days  

1. For the Jewish prophetic years

There are 360 days according to the Jewish year, therefore 483 years x 360 days = 173,880 days

The Book of Revelation tells of 360 days to the Jewish year (Revelation 11:3; 12:6)

Now dividing 1260 ÷ 360 = 3 ½ years.

This is the “time, times, and half a time” of Revelation 12:14  ie 1+2+ ½ = 3 ½ years.

2. For the Western calendar years

There are two parts –

First,

Artaxerxes (Daniel 9:25) decrees to restore and rebuild Jerusalem on 1^st Nisan (our March) 445BC.  

As there is no year “0” then this equals 444 years and not 445.

Second,

Jesus Christ (Messiah the Prince) rides into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday 25 Nisan (6^th April) 32 AD … and this equals 32 years. 

Total years = 444 + 32 = 476 years.

Now calculating for the adjustments of leap years and the extra days we have:

1. Now ¼ of all years are leap years … ¼ x 476 = 119 x 366 days    =   43,554 days 

2. And ¾ of all years are normal years … ¾ x 476 = 357 x 365 days = 130,305 days
                                                                                                                                                               Total =  173,859 days

3. Now as every 100^th year is not a leap year, we subtract 4 days     =  173,855 days

4. Now add 25 days for 1 Nisan to 25 Nisan                                     =  173,880 days

Hence the prophecy is exact to the day for either a Jewish year or a Western calendar year.
