Q:
“DO CHRISTIANS NEED ANGELS
AS
GUARDIANS AND PROTECTORS?”
A:
“NO”
The
following teaching will show that the Old Testament saints did not
have
the permanent indwelling of the Holy Ghost … and therefore did not
have
the eternal security of Holy Ghost protection … and therefore needed
protection
and guidance form angels.
Old
Testament Israel was thoroughly familiar with angel messengers and
protectors
until the kingdom of God dispensation as outlined in Paul … which
brought the
permanent indwelling of the Holy Ghost.
Q: “With this sort of Holy
Ghost
protection … being in Christ … which Christian needs angel
protection?”
A:
“No
Christian.”
The
following table lists the frequency/percentage of the words ‘angel’/‘angels’
in the Bible, the old testament, new testament,
the gospels,
Paul, Revelation:

Note:
* There are fewer mentions
of “angels/angel” in Paul
compared to the whole Bible.
* There are more mentions
in the gospels and
Revelation … WHY? No-one is in Christ in
these
dispensations.
1.
There is no praying to angels in Paul … no need.
2.
There is no worshipping angels in Paul … no need.
3.
There is no entreating angels in Paul … no need.
4.
There is no asking God to send a protecting angel in Paul … no
need.
5.
An angel simply appears to Paul without any entreating, prayer
or
solicitation
6.
In Acts 27:23-24, the angel of God appears to Paul as a one-off
messenger
not a protector. God saw that even
Paul, in horrific circumstances, needed assurance on his important
journey to
Rome.
7.
The Christian is in the body of Christ, and therefore there can be no
greater protection than the permanent indwelling of the Holy Ghost
8.
Angels are created beings whereas Jesus Christ and the Holy
Ghost aren’t,
therefore any protection offered by countless angels still could not
equal
the protection of an uncreated God.
9.
The book of Revelation speaks of other dispensations that do not have
eternal
security … and this is why there are so many references to angels in
them … for
guidance and protection.
Q: “But I still reckon angels
are
important to me as a Christian!”
A:
Grow up!
Paul
says “The worshipping of angels is called ‘voluntary humility’ … being
a vain
puffing up of the fleshy mind.”
Let
no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and
worshipping
of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly
puffed up by his fleshly mind, (Colossians 2:18)
CONCLUSION:
As
the Christian has permanent indwelling in the body of Christ,
there can
be no greater protection than that … ANGELS NOT NEEDED.
Angels
are created beings whereas God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy
Ghost
aren’t … therefore any protection offered by countless angels would be
zero
compared to the protection that the current believer has with the
indwelling
God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost (Romans 8:11).
