If you are
after the
best one, head and shoulders above the rest, you only have to look in one
place … and there are scores of other verses as well …
“For if Jesus
had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another
day.”
(Hebrews 4:8)
It’s that
simple.
But don’t
all the
rest of the versions have Joshua? … as follows …
“For if Joshua
had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another
day.”

Correct …
and that
just makes them all dead-flat stone-cold wrong. There are two points
to
be made here ..
Point 1: Not
understanding
the Book of Paul’s Epistle to the Hebrews, every translator since 1611
have
fallen hook, line and sinker for that deception.
But didn’t
Joshua
lead them into the promised land of Canaan?
Correct!
And no-one
disputes that, but this verse is not about that.
Jesus did not
lead them into Canaan … how could he … Jesus was at the rear of the
whole
procession … remember? … he was the Rock that followed.
“And did
all drink
the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that
followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
(1 Corinthians
10:4).
Point 2:
Furthermore, if
Joshua has given them rest, where in scriptures did he speak of another
day?
Zero!

Dah! Nowhere!
This verse
is not
about the physical leading of Israel into Canaan. Israel were still
under the
law of Moses … so Jesus could not give them rest till he was to come as
their
physical Son of man on earth.
