Question:
“IS LAZARUS, AND THE RICH MAN
IN HELL, A PARABLE?”
Luke
16:19-22,23-26,27-30,31
Answer:
“Yes … if you are not saved!”
And
that’s it isn’t it Folks? It is NOT a parable but the unsaved
will deny
it like crazy.
The
simple fact of the matter is this … “You don’t give a brass razoo (a
non-existent coin of trivial value) about how HOT the EVERLASTING
fires of hell are if you are saved … correct?
I
was witnessing to an SDA the other day who believed that “The Rich Man
and
Lazarus in Hell” account in Luke 16 is a parable.
Now
why would he do that?
Simples!
He’s going there … because he’s not saved.
Here
are a few Bible accounts of … REAL PEOPLE, REAL NAMES, REAL
PLACES,
REAL EVENTS AND REAL NUMBERS … connected with the word “certain”
in
the Bible..
To
wit:
a.
Jacob lighting upon a certain place (Genesis 28:11)
b.
Judah and the certain Adullamite (Genesis 38:1)
c.
Judah and Shuah the daughter of a certain Canaanite (Genesis
38:2)
d.
Moses and the bread from heaven to be gathered at a certain
daily rate
(Exodus 16:4)
e.
Certain
men defiled by a dead body (Numbers 9:6)
f.
Certain
men of Israel rising up before Moses
(Numbers 16:2)
g.
Certain men
of Belial (Deuteronomy 13:13)
h.
A
certain
numbers of beatings for a wicked man (Deuteronomy 25:2)
i.
A
certain
woman casting a piece of millstone upon Abimelech’s head Judges 9:53)
j.
A
certain
man called Manoah, of Zorah, had a barren wife (Judges 13:2)
k.
The
certain
man called Elkanah from Ramathaimzophin (1 Samuel 1:1)
l.
A
certain man called Doeg, an Edomite, a servant of Saul (1 Samuel 21:7)
m.
Anyone
passing over the Kidron brook can know for certain they will
die (1
Kings 2:37)
n.
Hanai and certain men of Judah (Nehemiah 1:2)
o.
Certain
of
the scribes of the Pharisees (Matthew 12:38)
Yes
Dear Reader … there are 196
mentions of the word
“certain” in the Bible … that means you can be certain
that the
word “certain” represents REAL PEOPLE, REAL NAMES, REAL
PLACES, REAL
EVENTS AND REAL NUMBERS!
Now
last, but not least …
“There
was a CERTAIN rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine
linen, and
fared sumptuously every day: And there was a CERTAIN beggar
named Lazarus,
which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with
the
crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and
licked
his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried
by the angels
into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
And in hell
he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar
off, and Lazarus
in his bosom. (Luke 16:19-22,23)
REAL
PEOPLE, REAL PLACES, REAL NAMES AND A REAL EVENT.
Your
SDA will NOT dispute the other 195 accounts of
real
people, events, names and places … but for a particular reason
will
vehemently believe that the rich man and Lazarus is a parable … not
true but a
made story to represent a truth.
WHY?
BECAUSE THAT’S WHERE THEY ARE GOING
WHY?
THEY ARE NOT SAVED.
Oh
yes! They’ll believe that there is a cooler and temporary hell … like
the
burning rubbish dump outside the city of Jerusalem … a temporary place.
Oh
yes! The SDA will admit they might be temporarily punished for a little
while
in a very cooled down hell … not real hot and only for a while.
Summary:
So
the real account of the rich man and Lazarus is not a
parable …
but about two real people … one of which … ends up in a real
hot
place … hell … and never to get out … and then cast into the real
everlasting lake of fire
So
when an account in the Bible starts with “There was a certain
man …”
indeed … the mention of the word “certain” … you can bet your
bottom
dollar on the fact it’s not fiction!
