FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FOR ROMANS CHAPTERS 12, 14, 15

There is general love, care and concern we have for other people, but charity goes further. The Urdu Bible may not have the word ‘charity’ in it. It will have the general word ‘love’. The chapter on charity is found in 1Corinthians 13:1,2,3,4,8,13.
1.
Charity is the special love between Christians. Read 1Corinthians chapter 13
2.
Which is the greatest – faith, hope or charity? Charity (1Cor 13:13). Do we want more faith? Yes! Do we want more hope? Yes! But charity is what we need most of all!
3.
Charity is explained fully in Romans chapters 12, 14, 15.

Chapter 12:1-21
- we are to be living sacrifices (v1); minister and teach (v7); exhort, give, rule with (diligence – care, caution and consistently) and show mercy (v8); love without pretending to love (v9) … read the whole chapter.

These are not some of “show-off” gifts that Paul corrects the Corinthian church of … such as healing, miracles, tongues and interpretation and so on (1Cor 12:8-10)

Chapter 14:1-23 – Receive those who are weak in the faith (v1) … read the chapter.
Chapter 15:1-33
– We who are strong are to care and bear the burdens of Christians who are weaker than us (v1) … read the whole chapter.
4. Charity is to put other Christians first and love them better than ourselves.
5. Just as Christ gave his life for all men, we are to do the same … especially for other Christians. It is the highest form of love.
6. More instructions on charity

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And ABOVE ALL THESE THINGS PUT ON CHARITY, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing
(correcting with love) one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:12-16

We are bound to thank God always for you … and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 2 Thessalonians 1:3

And ABOVE ALL THINGS have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 2 Peter 1:5-7
