Q: “HOW CAN
BELIEVING THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST SEND YOU TO HELL?”
A:
“BECAUSE
IT’S NOT THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST”
“What!!!?” …
“Isn’t that splitting hairs!”. Mmmm! Let’s see.
Dear Reader,
the message of apostle Paul’s epistle to the Hebrews (his readers already
believe on the doctrine of Christ), is that he urges them unto perfection
… the gospel of Christ … instead of drawing back unto perdition
as follows …
“Therefore leaving
the
principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection
…” (Hebrews 6:1)
and
“But we are not
of them who draw back unto (not into) perdition;
but of
them that believe to the saving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:39).
Paul’s
readership are those who are caught between believing on the Jesus
Christ as
their Saviour … that is getting saved … or going back under
Moses
… and unto (not into) perdition … which is not hell …
but the
road to hell … a ruined or lost state that is fit for hell.
So what is
the doctrine of Christ stated in Hebrews 6:1-2
1. Repentance
from dead works 2. Faith toward God
3. Doctrine of
baptisms
5. Resurrection of the dead 6. Faith toward God
While Christ
was on earth, Christ is called the Messiah (John 1:41),
the above
doctrine was in force … that is … the doctrine of Christ … but
it was NOT
perfection.
But as this dispensation is no longer in force … being after the cross, Paul’s readers are urged to have Christ as their Saviour … and not simply their Messiah … and this is called the gospel of Christ (Romans 1:9, 16; 15:19). STUDY the following diagram:
