ACCURATE
BIBLE
KNOWLEDGE!
Many Christians
believe that because they are saved, then their physical health is
automatically promised and can be claimed. This is wrong.
Lots
attend
many healing services with world famous TV `healers', repeating all the
‘health’ scriptures they can, praying, crying out to God, fasting,
striking
deals with God …you know – “I'll serve you all my life if you heal me”
or “I’ll
give money to prove I have faith” … you’ve heard it all.
But no healing occurs.
Yes, but
they
were under a two way deal (a covenant)
with God and if they kept
their side of the bargain, God would bless them with health and wealth
(Deuteronomy
30).
No. The
word
“covenant” is always a term used for Israel and never for the
Christian. People
misread "... Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will
make a new
covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:"
(Heb 8:8). This only takes place
in the coming seven year tribulation (Jer 31:31; Heb 8:9-12,13).
No, Paul talks
about the Jew in Romans 2:28-29 but Christians misread it as: "I've
been
circumcised in the heart so that makes me a spiritual Jew and therefore
I can
claim Israel’s physical and wealth promises for myself.” The truth is
as
follows:
GOD PROMISED ISRAEL |
GOD PROMISES THE CHRISTIAN |
Promise
of health or wealth |
No
promise of health or wealth |
No
promise of eternal security |
Promise of eternal secur |
It comes
as a
massive surprise to most Christians, that Christians are to get their
gospel,
their doctrine on everything, including healing, out of Paul’s
twelve
books which are Romans to Philemon and not
the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, 1&2 Peter, 1,2,3
John,
Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation.
As
Paul says Be ye followers of me,
even as I also am of Christ. (1 Cor
11:1); …
my doctrine
(2 Tim 3:10); teach
no other doctrine (1Tim 1:3); … my gospel (2 Tim
2:8); … the gospel…
committed to my trust. (1 Tim
1:11); … a dispensation of the
gospel is committed unto me. (1Cor 9:17).
No. Paul
says the opposite Be ye
followers of me, even as I also am of Christ (1 Cor 11:1).
As we follow
Paul with his outline of Christian doctrine, we become more like Jesus
Christ
in character and behaviour. As Christians, we absolutely follow Christ,
and Paul shows us how to do this.
Christians
cause themselves much pain and heartache in attempting to claim the
promises of
healing, health and wealth that were given only to the Jew under the
old
testament.
This
following
verse has caused more grief and agony for sick Christians than any
other.
But he was
wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are
healed.
(Isaiah 53:5)
Why? The
healing spoken of here, is the healing from sins and not
physical
healing. Turn to 1 Peter 2:24
There are
two meanings for Is 53:4 and absolutely no contradiction. Prior
to the cross, Jesus claims this as physical healing but after the
cross, the
promise is only
healing for sins.
Satan can
be
used as an excuse. Indeed, God sets out a severe warning for Christians
"For
if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged … many are weak
and sickly … and many
sleep (die) (1 Cor11:3,25-28,29-32,33). Devils
are not involved.
Yes and
no.
Many sick and diseased Christians have bad diets and immoral practices
and
simply haven’t judged themselves. There is no devil to be cast out,
because
it’s simply their lazy flesh that’s caused them trouble. If you
believe devils are involved, it could be that
Christians are leaving some ‘mind windows’ open and are doing,
believing,
watching or being involved in something they shouldn’t be.
He did, but
there was a reason God blessed Paul with a physical illness. "...
lest
I should be exalted .... I rather glory in my infirmities, that the
power of
Christ may rest upon me." (2Cor 12:7-9). Paul knew his salvation
didn't guarantee health or wealth. It was to God's glory that Paul had
this
condition, and Paul knew it, even though in his case it was a messenger
of
Satan, which God allowed anyhow.
Yes, but
he
left Trophimus sick at Miletum (2Tim 4:20). He couldn’t heal him!
Speaking
plainly, all of them are frauds, super salesmen or slick
con-artists. People with a limp are met at the door, sat in wheel
chairs and
placed in the front row. When Benny Hinn waves his hands, they are told
to get
up.
No you
haven’t. But you got told by a
friend who got told by a friend who was told by his friend that he saw
it
happen. Do people go to these healing meetings with broken limbs and
bones
without having gone to the doctor first? Of course not. They arrive
with arms
in casts and already on the way to getting healed.
Good
question.
Answer? The people of the world instantly recognize frauds and
shysters, but
the Christian is easily fooled. Despite being well intentioned, the
‘christian’
healer cannot, or will not, discern God's word on healing for today.
Why? It’s
not as impressive and the dollars aren’t there.
What about the
sick saints of old days?
Are men and
women of today more spiritual than the following saints? No. Tyndale
(prison
sickness), Elliot (lifetime sick), Crosby (blind), Knox (lifetime
sick),
Bradbury (tuberculosis TB), Toplady (TB), Doddridge (TB), Adams (TB),
Bunyan
(disease), McCheyne (lung), Brainard (lung) and Natts (acute physical
suffering).
Only he
knows,
but like Paul, we can get our 'attitude' right. He says "My grace
is
sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most
gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that
the power
of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Cor 12:9).
Of
course, and you can pray for a million dollars if you like, but it’s not
a promise of the gospel. You can ask for health, and wealth, according
to God's will, but be like the leprous man
saying “…if thou wilt..”
(Lk 5:12) and also “…ask anything
according to his will..”
(1 John 5:14). We may not
understand God's
purposes regarding our health, but we can take comfort in the fact that
the
Judge of all the earth shall do right (Gen 18:25).
If you are
saved, you've got everything – all sins are forgiven and you have
eternal
security. Until we have resurrected bodies, all men will continue to
have
sicknesses/diseases, grow old and die. But God says "...though
our
outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by
day." (2 Corinthians 4:16).
You must praise him for that, and you must go further with "Giving
thanks always for all
things …" (Eph 5:20
1.
You lie if you say “Come to Jesus to get
saved and he’ll give you physical healing.”
2. You
lie if you promise sick Christian people physical healing.
3.
You can only promise healing from
sin with eternal security and that’s all.
Otherwise, you’ll have false converts who will fall away under
sickness.
Why? They came for the wrong reasons.
4. Dear Pastor,
your ignorance will be no excuse despite your good
intentions. You must preach and teach Paul’s gospel and his doctrine on
healing.
A crippled girl was asked by a doctor to let him treat
her. After a pause, her answer was “I don’t think I had better” she
said. “You
see I have grown to love Jesus very much, because he is such a strength
to me
in my weakness. I am afraid that if I were made well, there might be
chance of
my loving him less.”
