“HOW JESUS PRAYS TO HIS
FATHER”
aka “The raising of Lazarus”
Now
Dear Reader, this is how Jesus Christ, God himself manifest in the
flesh,
praying to God the Father in heaven, about Lazarus.
Yes,
God the Son to God the Father.
One
could think that Jesus, being God, could say to his Father “Hey look
Dad, send
me this, do that, and by the way see if you can organize such and such!”
And
he could pray like that, but you will notice that instead of waiting
for ‘such
and such’ to happen … that is Lazarus to come forth … and then thanking
God
after, Jesus thanks him BEFORE anything comes about.
Let’s
take the case of Lazarus before he is raised by Jesus, and you will
notice that
Christ thanks his Father for hearing him … BEFORE
Lazarus walks
out of the tomb.
Note:
You will note that Christ would only want the will of his Father in any
situation, and there are dozens and dozens of scriptures to back this
(Matthew
12:50).
41 Then
they took away the stone from the place where the dead (Lazarus) was laid. And
Jesus
lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast
heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but
because of the
people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast
sent me. 43
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus,
come
forth. (John 11:41-43)
…
and Lazarus comes forth after Jesus
has thanked his Father.
How
should we pray?
Yes,
present our prayers and supplications to God the Father with THANKSGIVING
BEFORE NOT AFTER.
Thank
the Lord for hearing us and praying for his will to be done … not
ours …
whether the outcome is ‘good, bad or ugly’ in the natural.
God
is not some forgetful God that we have to keep pounding on his door for
answers
the way we want.
You
know “Dear Lord, we are all praying for Mr Johnson’s broken foot (for
the
hundredth time) that doesn’t seem to be healing.”
Dear
Reader, we all have a Red Sea in our lives … how should we pray about
it?
Like
Moses … “Lord, thank you for hearing my prayer. Lord, you know the
beginning
from the end. I pray that your will be done.
“Thank
you Lord that you hear my prayer. Your will your way and
your time.
You
already know the beginning from the end in this matter. I am most
grateful that
you would even consider my supplication regarding this.”
Following
are three scriptures to mediate upon and act upon ...
Giving
THANKS always for all
things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Ephesians
5:20
Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING
let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6
Rejoice
evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing GIVE THANKS: for
this is
the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Here are
some quotes from three Christian worthies …
“If
anyone could tell you the shortest, surest way to all happiness and
perfection,
he must tell you to make it a rule to yourself to thank and praise
God for
everything that happens to you. For it is certain that whatever
seeming
calamity happens to you, if you thank and praise God for it, you turn
it into a
blessing.” – William Law, clergyman, 18th century
“I thank God for my handicaps, for through them I have found myself, my work and my God.” – Hellen Keller
In
conclusion:
Be
like Jesus, thanking God that he hears our prayers BEFOREHAND!
“And
the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
“And
we know that all things work together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans
8:28)
