“A CLOUD
WITHOUT WATER … ROME’S ESV”
(Jude
1:12; 2 Peter 2:17)
Dear
Reader, did you hear the story about the fellow who went Café ESV,
and
had a main course of egg shells, followed by a bowl of donut
holes
for dessert, and washed down with a cup of dried cloth stains?
“Not
very nutritious” some might say.
But
are Christians guilty of dining at Café Rome?
Yes,
Café ESV is simply
another name for Café Rome,
as it
continues to
serve up the
corrupt manuscripts of Sinaiticus
(Aleph)
and Vaticanus
(B)
... with its previous modern versions of Amplified, NIV,
NASB,
NKJV, RSV, Good News, Living, NEB,
ASV
and so on… and starting way back with the RV in 1881.
With
Rome’s infiltration philosophy
of Christian churches, of
“surtout,
surtout, pastrop de zeal” (slowly, slowly, but not too much zeal), Rome
adopts
the subtil house robber’s approach of squirting some sleeping gas under
the
door … rather than busting through the front door with a chainsaw.
With
great swelling words, Rome inevitably begins the preface of its
versions
with swelling words and important sounding phrases like …
“the
Bible contains the lively oracles of God”;
“echoing
the great 1611 Translators”;
“in
the classic mainstream of English Bible translations”;
“each
word and phrase has been carefully weighed”;
“avoiding
under-translating but not overlooking any nuance of the original text;
“archaic
language has been brought into line with current usage”;
“corrections
have has to be made to maintain the depth of meaning”;
“essentially
a literal translation with word-for word correspondence, while taking
into
account the differences in grammar, syntax and idiom, the is version
has
endeavoured, directly as possible, to hold onto the original structure
and
exact force of the originals”;
“while
there are no perfect Bibles, there has been a trade-off between literal
precision and readability, functional equivalence and formal
equivalence, while
maintaining the clarity of expression and literary excellence”;
“using
classic translation principles this version retains the theological
terminology
using such words as grace, faith, justification, sanctification,
redemption,
reconciliation, propitiation”;
“using
gender neutral language of ‘anyone’ for ‘any man’, and ‘people’ rather
than
‘men’”; “changing the violence of ‘hell’ to a more pleasant abode of a
spirit
dwelling ‘hades’, and ‘Jehovah’ to ‘Yaweh’, ‘servant’ to ‘slave’ and so
on.
Look
… the average church attender, wouldn’t have a clue about the above,
but they
know it all sounds good … makes them feel intellectual and catered for.
And
surely, a publisher wouldn’t lie to them?
BUT
…
the lusts of the people make them love it so …
We
have the following verse …
“For
the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their OWN
LUSTS shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”
(2 Timothy 4:3).
And
what are these lusts?
“And
the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the
lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it
becometh
unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19)
cares
of this world?
Self, family, careers, houses, cars,
holidays,
deceitfulness
of riches? Gold,
investments, bank accounts, stock
market, interest rates
lusts
of other things? Glory
of man’s praise, sex, food,
entertainment, popularity
Basically
EDUCATION, SEX and MONEY.
Dear
Reader, the people love to have different versions that disagree with
each
other … to accommodate their cares, deceitfulness and lusts
… so they
can HIDE!
As
the scriptures say …
“The
prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means;
and MY
PEOPLE LOVE TO HAVE IT SO: and what will ye do in the end thereof?”
(Jeremiah 5:31)
Rome
is
simply there to provide the corruption of Aleph and B
for all
modern versions
Ah
yes, as the saying goes, “Christ continually gets crucified
between the scholar
and the dollar.”
Dear
Reader, what
will
you do in the end?
“So
then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
(Romans
14:12) …
…
along
with (Romans 14:10) and
(2 Corinthians 5:11).
