In a nutshell, for the Roman Catholic to be justified before God, you must eat Jesus (wafer) before God will accept you … a voluntary physical act that takes place inside of a man … this is called IMPARTATION … with something put into you.

For the Reformed, God must supernaturally transform you inside before you can believe on the Lord Jesus Christ … an involuntary spiritual act that takes place inside of a man … and this takes place without your permission … this is also called IMPARTATION … with something put into you.

Christian justification occurs entirely OUTSIDE of a person … it is EXTRINSIC … this is called IMPUTATION … it is DECLARED.

Christian justification is an external act … God declares the guilty as innocent … and it happens outside of a man.

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans 4:5)

A case in point is an old woman in an aged care facility being visited by the Roman Catholic priest.

She says “I’m just about to have my lunch … could we make it another time?”

To which he replies “it’ll only take a couple of minutes” and offers her the wafer.

CASE 2: A sinner MADE godly … being zapped by IMPARTATION … WRONG! ×

Another case … the sinner, living a sinful life, at one point, gets ‘zapped’ by the Holy Spirit.

When could this happen … getting drunk, fornicating, robbing a bank and so on … who knows?

CASE 3: A murderer is DECLARED innocent by IMPUTATION … RIGHT! √

A murderer standing trial … he gets acquitted by the judge … who takes off his legal robes … and is gas-chambered instead of the guilty man.

Q: “Has there been any internal change in the guilty murderer for this to happen … and to be set free”

He is still guilty but has now been declared innocent by an external act of the judge.

The judge has pronounced himself guilty … by taking and owning the murderer sins.

The murderer has been justified before the law … and this happens outside of the man.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. “(Ephesians 2:8-9)

“But to him that WORKETH NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans 4:5)

All this is easy to understand … we become sinners by something that happened outside of us … that is … Adam’s sin was passed down to us … we are born sinners without our agreement … an external act … no work needed on our behalf.

Therefore God, being a reasonable, logical and loving God, saves us by something that happens that he has done outside of us … an external act … and as believing is not a work ... no work needed on our behalf.
