SONG OF SOLOMON
BACKGROUND
This is a story that is
told when Solomon
was visiting the northern part of his kingdom.
At Shunem, he finds a beautiful
shepherdess who he wants to make his queen of queens. She tries to resist Solomon
as she is promised to a shepherd, to whom she will remain
faithful,
as she waits for him
to come and take her away.
Israel waiting
for Jesus Christ
her Saviour. This will happen
in the tribulation (Zechariah 12:10)
They should have received Jesus
Christ when he first came to earth for them - they didn’t. Now
although Israel has committed fornication and spiritual apostasy
with other nations
and gods, Jesus will
remain faithful and come for
her again.
The picture is of Israel who should have remained a faithful virgin
to God, but hasn’t.
The shepherd represents Jesus Christ who has already come to
take them
away and save them, but
they haven’t
realised he was their Messiah. But Jesus will come again for them in the tribulation (Zechariah 12:10)
even though they have been unfaithful.

So - Solomon
– represents the world and the heathen
nations all around
Israel, enticing them
to spiritual and physical
fornication.
Solomon
is not a picture of God, as he tries
to seduce the woman to
join his other queens. This
is not
God. God has his eye on one woman (Israel) only. He doesn’t have a
harem when it comes to Israel.
