There is a story about a young man who visited a Street Preacher for his Bible knowledge in word and doctrine.

He said to him “Dear Sir, I have travelled half way round the world to learn about the Bible, and so I have come to you.”

The Street Preacher said “Very well then. Follow me.”

As he lived by the sea, he took the young man down to the water.

They waded out into the deep water up to their shoulders.

The Street Preacher then grabbed the young man in a headlock and forced his head under the water.

Just before the young man passed out, the Street Preacher let him go. He then dragged him out of the water, left him on the beach and walked off into town.

When the young man had come around, he angrily searched out the Street Preacher. He said “Why did you nearly drown me!”

Very calmly, the Street Preacher said “When you were under the water, what was the one thing you wanted more than anything else?”

“I wanted air!” he said

“Good” said the Street Preacher “when you want Bible knowledge as badly as you wanted air, you will have just begun.”
