Believing his Roman Catholic guru and mentor Augustine*, Calvin swallowed, hook-line-sinker, the monstrous lie that Total Depravity meant Total Inability … and unless God interfered with, burgled, and overpowered and altered man’s will, he could not be saved.

Calvinists wrongly call this burglarization as predestination, quickening, choosing, regeneration or being born again … all of which do happen … but to their shame… they only take place WHEN IN CHRIST … NEVER OUTSIDE!

*Note: Dear Reader, casting your eye down the multiple heresies of Augustine, Rome’s loyal servant, what advice could he give anyone, to keep them out of the fires of hell … none.

This meant that a lost sinner cannot come to Jesus Christ and trust him as his Saviour unless God has foreordained … that is … has foreknowledge with predetermined action … that lost sinner to come to Christ.

But as we read in the scriptures, God only ever foreordained Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:20) … meaning that sinners are not predetermined to go to hell.

God has foreknowledge but the decision is up to the sinner.

In addition, from the scriptures, we read that man is not totally depraved … but only dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1) … simply meaning there is nothing good in man to earn or deserve salvation.

While the Bible teaches that all men are dead in trespasses and sins, NOWHERE does it teach their inability to get saved.

Being “dead in trespasses and sins” simply means that spiritually speaking, we are black as the ace of spades down a coal mine at midnight … with no righteousness of our own to offer God.

A man, who in his whole life, would commit but one sin, is as guilty and dead before God as a man committing thousands of sins.

How do we know this? …

The scripture says “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” (Galatians 3:10) 

But being dead in trespasses and sins does not mean that man does not have a freewill to come to Christ, as God has made everyman a free moral agent

Nowhere in the Bible do we read that people are lost because they have no ability to come to Christ.

Jesus said “You WILL not come to me, that ye might have life” (John 5:40).

So we see that it’s not a matter of whether or not you can come to Christ, but simply a matter of whether or not you will come to Christ.

and again …

As Jesus said “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem … how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye WOULD not!” (Matthew 23:37)

Jesus did not say ye could not but ye would not … meaning that it was not a matter of whether they could, but simply a matter of whether they would.

That’s called FREE WILL!

So we see the only thing that stands between a sinner and salvation is the sinner’s will.

Furthermore, we see that Christ is the true Light that lighteth everyman …

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. (John 1:9).

Yes Dear Reader, God has given every man a moral conscience of what’s right and wrong … even the worst of sinners … as we read

“Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:19-20)

This means we are told that sinners are called through their own conscience to God the creator, even if they have never heard of him.

So there we have it Dear Reader, in the final analysis, men will burn in hell, not because of their inability to come to Christ, but because they will not come.

There is now NO need for unconditional election, limited atonement and irresistible grace.  

Furthermore, saints are not in Christ because of their perseverance but because of preservation.

As one wag put it “The four Humpty Dumptys (U.L.I.P.) had a great fall”.
