“WHY IS JESUS CALLED THE WORD?”
In
other words …
“What
can the letters of a word
tell us about the meaning of that word?”
Let’s
take the following verse and see what Jesus calls himself in heaven …
“For there are three that
bear record
in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these
three are
one.”
(1 John 5:7)
Why didn’t Jesus call himself
one of the following … and by
the way … which he is …
“For there are three that
bear record
in heaven, the Father, the Almighty, (which he is in 2 Corinthians 6:18) and the Holy
Ghost: and these three are one.”
(1 John 5:7) … or
“For there are three that
bear record
in heaven, the Father, the Light, (which he is in John 1:9)
and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one.”
(1 John 5:7) … or
“For there are three that
bear record
in heaven, the Father, The Prince of Peace, (which he is in Isaiah 9:6)
and the
Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
(1 John 5:7)
What is the special meaning
about the
letters
“w”, “o”, “r”, “d”?
1. There are four letters
in the word “word”
… and English Bible Numerics explains this as follows:
(a) The number 4 represents
the
tribe of Judah being the 4th tribe (Exodus
1:2)
(b) Jesus is the 2nd
person of the Godhead
(c) Multiplying the
number 2 by
the number 2 … we have “at the mouth of two witnesses or at
the mouth
of three witnesses, shall the matter be established” (Deuteronomy 19:15) … indeed … “in the
mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be
established
(Matthew 18:16)
Hence, the number four
is the perfect
number to describe Jesus.
Furthermore, the above two
verses
included the number “three” to further add to Christ being of the ‘three-ness’
the three persons in the Godhead (Romans 1:20;
I John 5:7)
2. The picture significance
of the letter
“w”
The letter “w” pictures
movement
… as in waves and walking and wind.

(a) We take the healing of
the
impotent man at the pool at the sheep market called Bethesda (John
5:20) … and
find that while the water was still, no healings took
place,
until “… angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and
troubled the
water” (John 5:4).
But at this time, Christ
heals the man
without the man entering the water.
Others were healed by the
physical
moving water, but this man was healed by living water himself (John
4:10).
(b) Furthermore, walking
means
life … as we have the twelve year old damsel walking after
being healed
(Mark 5:42)
In addition, Jesus … the
healing water
… wherever he walked … he brought healing.
(c) In addition, the Spirit
of the
Lord is likened to the wind … and salvation.
“The wind bloweth
where it
listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence
it
cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of
the Spirit.”
(John 3:8)
So it appropriate that
Christ should call
himself the big “W” … representing waves, walking and wind …
and to put
the cherry on top … we have Jesus … the big W … w-alking on the
w-ater in the w-ind (John 6:18-20,21)
(d) Finally, Jesus comes
down from
heaven as the Son of man and goes back to heaven … to comes back again
as the
Son of man again … to return to heaven again … as follows …

3. The picture significance
of the
letter “o”
The letter “o” pictures
openness.

We have open hearts, opens
ears, opens
mouths
The wise men opened
their treasures (Matthew 2:11)
Christ opened his
mouth and taught
them
(Matthew 5:2)
Knock and the door
will be opened
(Matthew 7:7).
Blind men’s eyes were opened
(Matthew 9:30).
The letter “o” pictures
Christ as
being open to all.
Salvation is opened to all.
4. The picture significance
of the
letter “r”
The letter “r” pictures
ruling over,
reach and
force
We have the following
diagram …

Dear Reader, can you see
how Christ
has come down to earth to reach all and indeed … rule over
all.
It pictures both force
and authority.
Christ is the rod of
iron that
will rule (Psalm 2:9; Revelation 12:5; 19:15)
5. The letter “d” pictures
downward
movement.
We have the following
diagram …

The picture is
overwhelmingly downward.
Christ came down from
heaven to earth
and will return out of heaven … coming down to earth at the
battle of
Armageddon (Revelation 19).
Conclusion:
Why is Christ called the Word?
The pictures explain it all
…

The word “Word” is
the perfect
name for the Lord Jesus Christ. What say ye?
