BULLSEYE!
ACCURATE BIBLE KNOWLEDGE!

QUESTION: “WELL … WHAT’S SO WRONG WITH DOING CHRISTMAS?

ANSWER: “JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING”

Dear Reader, the last days in December have two different meanings for two different sets of people.

For the world, for the unbeliever, the unsaved, that is the non-Christian and pretend Christians, it means flying reindeer, presents, Winter scenes, elves, lots of food and drink, mistletoe, prawns, watermelons and the Satanic God substitute called Santa.

For the Christian it is the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now the Bible does not mention Christmas and the celebration of Christmas, but it has many details about the birth of Christ. And these two things are very different.

1. CHRISTMAS AND CHRIST’S BIRTH ARE TWO ENTIRELY SEPARATE EVENTS
In the Bible we have the angel appearing to Mary and then Joseph, the conditions surrounding the Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, the heavenly choir’s performance for the shepherds in the fields outside the town, but there is no record or anyone observing and celebrating Christmas or any hint that God the Father of Jesus Christ expects us to do so.

Now, the books of the New Testament cover the 33 years of Christ’s life plus another 30 years of the early church following his death and resurrection, but no where do we even get a hint of  Christmas celebrations or anything else remotely like it.

For Christians, we are eternally grateful that Christ was born, for at last, God was giving a way for there to be peace between himself and man as the following scriptures point out:

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14

2. CHRIST WAS BORN TO DIE
Yes, Jesus Christ has been the only man ever born who was destined to die to save the world. He was born so that he could pay God’s penalty for the sins of the world.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, Revelation 1:5

3. JESUS WAS NOT BORN ON OR NEAR THE 25TH DECEMBER.
We must remember that those shepherds were in the fields at night.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Luke 2:8.

Now December weather in Bethlehem is extremely cold and often wet and rainy. No shepherd in his right mind would have kept his flocks of sheep outside at night at that time of year.

No, Jesus Christ was born in Summer of early Autumn around September.

The shepherds would have sought shelter for their flocks rather than keep them out in the freezing cold night. The flocks in the Middle East are small ones – suitable for one household to live off, so the shelter would not have to be very large at all.

In addition, Luke 2:1-4 tells us that at that time the Roman government was conducting a census of the people. It would have made no sense for the Romans to do this in the dead of Winter with freezing temperatures. Traveling on the roads would be very difficult as well.

4. ANCIENT PAGAN FESTIVALS
We must ask ourselves what do reindeer, presents, Winter scenes, elves, lots of food and drink, mistletoe and the Satanic God substitute called Santa have to do with the birth of the Saviour of the world?
Nothing.

But they have everything to do with ancient pagan festivals. The celebrating on December the 25th was adopted by the Romans from the Persians.

The Persians had a god called Mithra, the god of light, who, as the myth goes, was born out of a rock on the 25th December. So in the 3rd Century, the Roman Emperor, who was not a Christian, established ‘The Day of the Invincible Sun’ on 25th December.

This time of the 25th December was chosen because it was already a popular pagan holiday celebrating the birth of the Persian sun god!

5. GOD CONDEMNS USING PAGAN CUSTOMS TO WORSHIP HIM.
The Bible is very clear that God forbids using pagan ceremonies to worship him. (Deut 12:30-32).
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2Co 6:14-16

In England and some parts of America, Christmas was outlawed because of its unbiblical and pagan origins. They knew something most people today have forgotten or never known.

6. YOU CAN’T PUT CHRIST BACK INTO SOMETHING HE WAS NEVER IN.
You’ve probably heard people say “Well, Christmas has become very commercial and money centred. All we need to do is to put Christ back into Christmas.” Hello? Christ was never in Christmas!

7. THE WORD “CHRISTMAS” STANDS FOR CHRIST MASS.
The mass is a Roman Catholic ceremony that makes a mockery of the Lord’s supper with the blasphemy of the priest of “making” the wafer the very body of Christ and the grape juice, the very blood of Christ.

No, you can search the Bible and you won’t find the words “Christmas”, “Christmas tree”, “holly”, “Santa Claus” or “flying reindeer”.

8. THE BIBLE IS ABOUT THE DEATH OF CHRIST CROSS
The Bible nowhere tells us to observe a holiday celebrating Christ’s birth – but it clearly tells us to remember his death!

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 1 Cor 11:23-28.

This is called the Lord’s supper.

9. CHRISTMAS HIDES AND COVERS UP GOD’S PLAN FOR MANKIND.
As the blood of the slain Passover lamb on the doors of the Israelite’s houses spared Israel from the wrath of God as the firstborn children of the Egyptians were slain, so Christ’s shed blood, his sacrificial blood on the cross, on our behalf, spares us from the eternal hell fire of God’s wrath…if we believe.

Paul the apostle tells us of this Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 1 Cor 5:7

Similarly John the Baptist says The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29

Peter writes that we are redeemed … with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 Peter 1:19

God’s central plan for man was the sacrificial death of Christ on our behalf.

He is … the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8 meaning that his death for our sins was planned before Adam and Eve were created.

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 1 Peter 1:18-20

Only by Christ’s death that paid the penalty for our sins, can the world receive God’s gift of eternal life and be with him forever in heaven.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:14-17

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Cor 15:20-22

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is NONE OTHER NAME under heaven given among men, whereby WE MUST BE SAVED. Acts 4:12
Mmmm! I wonder why God would say we MUST be saved!
Correct boys and girls! Saved from God’s wrath of the burning flames of hell for those who will not have Christ as their Saviour.
