BULLSEYE!
ACCURATE
BIBLE KNOWLEDGE!
“I’VE FOUND A MISTAKE”
(Part 2
of 3)
QUESTION
1: THE BIBLE
CONTRADICTS ITSELF! THE FIRST ERROR IS -
“WERE
THERE 40,000 STALLS OR 4,000 STALLS?”
ANSWER:
Both are correct
EXPLANATION:
1Kings
4:26 And
Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots,
and twelve thousand horsemen. |
2 Chronicles 9:25 And
Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and
twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and
with the king at Jerusalem. |
In
2
Chron 9:25, the stalls are for 4,000 horses WITH
their
chariots attached.
Furthermore,
the horses from the 40,000 stalls were brought to these 4,000 stalls to
be
attached to their chariots.
How
many horses per chariot per stall would there be? There could be ten
horses per
chariot if needed, and therefore only 4,000 stalls were needed.
Second,
not all horses would have been needed at one time, maybe six, maybe
eight or
the full complement of ten could be used depending on how many
men were
riding in the chariot. But the provision of the maximum number was made
for all
chariots – ten horses per chariot.
Third,
because of the high risk of danger to horses in battle, many would be
killed, injured
or lame and ‘spares’ would be needed. War chariots would have spare
horses.
2 Samuel 8:4 And
David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen,
and twenty thousand footmen: and David hocked all the chariot horses,
but reserved of them for an hundred chariots. |
2 Chronicles 18:4 And
David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen,
and twenty thousand footmen: David also hocked all the chariot horses,
but reserved of them an hundred chariots. |
Both
are correct! But how can that be? We
read the two verses verse
with nearly exactly the same wording except the numbers are
different.
The
explanation is that the
Syrians could have ten men per chariot. How do we know this? Compare the following verses:
2 Samuel 10:18 And
the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven
hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and
smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there. |
1Chronicles
19:18 18 But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David
slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots,
and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host. |
The
Samuel verse simply says the men of 700 chariots – but it doesn’t say
how many.
The
Chronicles verse gives us the number of 7,000 men WHICH
FOUGHT IN 700
CHARIOTS! So therefore we have 10 men per chariot.
WHEN YOU HEAR SOMEONE SAY …
Dear Reader, when you hear someone say “I have found a
mistake in the King James Bible” you will know they either are
ignorant
in the true sense of the word or with their will, they choose to be willingly
ignorant, and there is no amount of true, correct or factual
information
that can change their mind. You could dump a semi-trailer load of
information
on their front lawn, but they will not be convinced.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Go and study to show yourself APPROVED UNTO GOD,
and study to find the answer why there isn’t a mistake. As the
scriptures say
God rewards those that diligently seek him (Heb 11:6). There are no
mistakes
in the King James Bible.
Look
Dear Reader, most people have already made up their mind that there are
mistakes in the King James Bible, and they will not let facts get in
the way of
their opinion. When you hear someone say “I’ve found a mistake…”. Do
your best
to open their eyes a couple of times … then just shake your head, walk
away and
pray that God will open their eyes.
As
someone said a long time ago “People’s ignorance is their most prized
possession, and they will burn down their own house to protect it.”
It’s
like you say to people “Get saved or you will burn in hell.”
Their
response is “Well, I don’t believe it. That’s just your opinion!”
The
purpose of God’s ‘mistakes’ in the King James Bible are two-fold:
1. A trap and a snare for the Bible Corrector,
Critic and Mocker
2. A reward for those that will diligently seek
him (Heb 11:6)
