“SOLO
GRATIA, SOLO CHRISTO, SOLA FIDE, SOLA
SCRIPTURA”
Today, we
are living in a time when the real
distinction between Pauline Christianity and Roman
Catholicism amounts
to nothing in the minds of most people.
Except for
prejudice and sentiment there
remains very little in the wall of separation.
The vast
majority of denominational ‘Christians’
and Roman Catholics do not know what the real difference is between the
two
doctrines.
In fact,
the vast majority of denominational ‘Christians’
are Roman Catholic in their religious outlook without knowing it.
Church
historians say “Either you have a Pauline
Christian relation to God or you have the Roman Catholic one … but you cannot
have both … you cannot make a compromise.”
Denominational
‘Christianity’, for many years now,
has been waltzing around on the dance floor with Rome … yes Dear Reader
… a
couple looking for unity.
In fact,
the vast majority of denominational
‘Christians’ affirm that the central doctrine of justification by faith
alone,
is no longer a barrier to prevent union with Rome.
But Luther
stated many times, that if this article
of justification is lost … everything is lost!
The
following were, and will always be, Paul’s
four pillars of justification by faith alone, and illustrate why no
compromise is ever possible between the two streams of doctrine.
1. Sola
gratia
God’s
saving activity outside of us in the
person of Jesus Christ is the sole ground of our salvation.
2. Solo
Christo
Christ’s
doing and dying on our
behalf is the sole basis of our acceptance and continued
fellowship with God.
3. Sola
fide
The Holy
Spirit’s gift of faith through the hearing
of this objective, historical gospel is the sole means whereby
Christ’s
substitutionary life and death are imputed to us for
justification unto
life eternal. He who is thus justified by faith by believing on the
Lord Jesus
Christ (Acts 16:31), will glory only in Christ’s cross, and make God’s
saving
work in Christ the central affirmation of his Christian witness. Though
he will
be careful to obey God and please him in all things, he will continue
to repent
rather than glory in the feeble attainments of his own Spirit filled
life.
4. Sola
Scriptura
The
King James Bible,
and The King James Bible only, is the
Christian’s only objective and only infallible rule of faith and
practice,
alone and sufficient, to be established in the present truth
as
stated by Paul, being the chief of all apostles, and born out of due
time (1 Corinthians 15:8)
“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.” (2 Peter 1:12)
