“TONGUES MADE REAL SIMPLE”

Many people are confused about tongues and whether they are for today.

BUT AREN’T TONGUES FOR TODAY?

No. It’s very simple.

There are three classes of utterance – two of which are mentioned in the King James Bible. The third is not.

Class 1: Known tongues that were spoken at and after Pentecost up to AD70

Class 2: Unknown tongues that were spoken after Pentecost up to AD70 

Class 3: Today’s utterances called Babble which has been burbled since AD70. Not in the Bible.

It looks like this:

SO WHAT IS A TONGUE?
Firstly, there is the actual organ itself as the rich man wanted water to “…cool my tongue…” (Luke 16:24).
Secondly, it stands for a proper language as Paul
“… spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue…” (Acts 21:40).

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE

Class 1

These were proper languages that were known by those present, Jews, at Pentecost and up to AD70 as “…every man heard them speak in his own language.” (Acts 2:6)

Class 2

These were proper languages that were not known by anyone present at a meeting. This why God forbids them to be spoken at a meeting as they would not be of use to anyone and would only be a source of puffing up by the speaker. Go home and talk to the Lord if you must.

“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue (a proper language but not known by anyone present) speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” (1Cor 14:2).

But if you speak in an unknown tongue, you are speaking to God, however, it is not with the holy Spirit but in your human spirit. If the Holy Spirit was leading a man to speak, it would be recognized by those present.

Class 3

This babbling is merely a series of sounds that anyone can string together to make themselves sound spiritual. This is what is uttered today eg “booarababargoosheeundtagooarammarrabo” – manufactured, artificial and fraudulent sounds abounding in many churches today.

This babble is not even mentioned in 1 Corinthians and should not even be placed into the unknown category. Never was the saying more true than this: “It’s just too silly for words”.
