The TONGUES SPOKEN
TODAY are a fraud, a lie and are
a pretending, by those that babble
them, to sound spiritual. Tongues users
today are trying to be sincere, but they are sincerely wrong.
Tongue
speakers put pressure on non-tongue speakers by making out they are
more
spiritual with their so-called gift.
A.
WHAT
ARE TONGUES?
A
tongue is a proper language.
There
are only two types of tongues mentioned in 1Cor 14 in the King James
Bible –
KNOWN and UNKNOWN.
1.
A
known
tongue was a proper language that was known and understood
by someone in the congregation or meeting and could be interpreted.
2.
An
unknown
tongue was still a proper language but it was not known by anyone
in the
church service.
Unknown
tongue speakers were advised by Paul to be quiet.
There
was
no interpreter. No-one understands them.
3.
But
what is uttered today is neither
known or unknown. It is simply made up
noises with no meaning. ANYTHING THAT IS WRITTEN ABOUT IN THE
SCRIPTURES ABOUT
KNOWN AND UNKNOWN TONGUES DOESN’T APPLY TO WHAT IS SPOKEN TODAY. TODAY,
PEOPLE
WHO PRETEND TO SPEAK IN A KNOWN OR UNKNOWN LANGUAGE ARE JUST FOOLING
THEMSELVES. They are trying to apply what the scriptures say to their
make
believe game. There is no connection what so ever.
B.
THE
PURPOSE of tongues was a warning from God to the Jews
at Pentecost
that God was no longer speaking to the Jew exclusively. God was now
speaking to
all the nations in their own language.
You
see, when God previously spoke to man, he spoke to
the Jewish people by their own prophets and writers in the Old
Testament in
Hebrew. At Pentecost, God is ‘putting
aside’ the Jew and speaking to all men ‘everywhere’.
Tongues
were not a blessing to the Jew, but a WARNING that
they were UNDER JUDGMENT from God.
C.
THE
USE OF TONGUES
stopped
around the mid 60’s AD which was about 30 or so years after the cross.
Paul
mentions the misuse of them in 1 Cor 14 (AD 57) but
one year later when he writes Romans around AD 58, they are not
mentioned as
being one of the gifts. Why? They were dropping off in their use. Paul
had
corrected the misuse of them and the real tongues speakers were
becoming less
in numbers.
The
use of tongues lasted up to the destruction of Jerusalem
around 70 AD (38 years after the cross).
SUMMARY:
1.
Tongues
were proper known languages given
supernaturally by God to the apostles to speak to UNBELIEVING
JEWS (1Cor 15:2) at Pentecost (about 17-18 languages)
“Wherefore
tongues are for a
sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but
prophesying serveth not for them that BELIEVE
NOT, but for them which believe.”
(1 Cor 14:22)
2.
UNBELIEVING
JEWS had to be present.
3.
Tongues
were NEVER to be used as a prayer
language to be prayed back to God.
4.
Tongues
were NEVER for Christians or
believers or the saved.
5.
When
praying to God, it is to be with understanding as Paul says
What
is it then? I will pray
with the spirit, and I WILL PRAY WITH THE UNDERSTANDING also: I
will
sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 1 Corinthians 14:15 (KJV)
