QUESTIONS
AND ANSWERS
QUESTION:
“IS BELIEVING ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST THE ONLY WAY TO GET
TO HEAVEN?” (Part 2 of 2)
ANSWER:
“THERE IS ANOTHER WAY … NOT!”
Now dear reader, you will
know that what was written in Part 1 is correct … AND
IT’S NOT.
There is more to the story than keeping the
Ten Commandments perfectly. There are different “obediences” required
over time
… with each one more demanding than the previous. Having said that, all
are
covered with the first and great commandment of “Love the Lord thy God
…” (Matt
22:37)
Firstly, the Ten Commandments have
been superceded. Christ came and fulfilled
them. It is no longer possible to keep them as they were given to
Israel. To fulfil them meant not only to
complete and perform them, but to have a cheerful and joyful heart that
these
laws are good, holy and just (Rom 7:12). How many people would feel
like that
today? Correct. Christ was joyful and excited that he was fulfilling
the
Father’s laws.
Secondly, Christ comes to Israel
and demands from them even stricter obedience
than those of the Ten Commandments. He gives them the “Sermon on the
Mount”
(Matthew 5-7). These went to the issues of the heart unlike the
‘external laws’
of The Ten Commandments. For example God not forgiving your sins unless
you
forgive others theirs (Matt 6:12; Luke 11:4). But they were to believe
that
Christ could keep them on their behalf along with temple animal
sacrifice for
past sins.
The rich young ruler said
that he had kept them all, and Jesus said to sell all (Luke 18:22).
This
surpassed the Ten Commandments, as you could be rich then, but then
Christ said
it was impossible for the rich to enter heaven (Matt 19:24).
Thirdly, James (writing 44AD) says
sin is violating your own standards with “Therefore to him that
knoweth to do good, and doeth
it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17).
So even the
worst sinner knows about sin as he has his own requirements
of goodness … which he hasn’t kept! Ouch!
Fourthly, Paul (50AD) outlines
further the sins of the
flesh (Gal 5:19-21). Ouch! Ouch!
Fifthly, Paul (56AD), also having
the commandments of God
(1Cor 14:37), sums it all up with the sins of the reprobate mind are
listed
(Rom 1:28-31). Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
Sixthly, if that’s not enough,
Paul (57AD) nails it down
with “All have sinned and come short …” (Rom 3:23). He goes on to give
us a
whipping with the “none good and none righteous” diatribe (Rom
3:10-18). Ouch!
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
No Dear Reader, Part 1 was
written to grab your
attention. There is only one way. How do we know this? Christ says “…
I am
the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
me.” (John 14:6) … MY SINLESS
LIFE AND SINLESS BLOOD.
