“And he
said unto them, How is it that ye sought
me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?”
(Luke
2:49)
Generally,
when preaching on the street, you’ll get
the comment from an unbeliever to “Get a job!” … little realizing that
a
Christian’s job/business is to preach to others.
A
Christian can rightly say back “I am about my
business … my Father’s business.”
Jesus
Christ as a young boy was about his Father’s
business and astonished the doctors and the priests with his
understanding and
answers (Luke 2:47 … and rightly so … he was God manifest in the flesh
… he was
the everlasting heavenly Father in a physical body (Isaiah 9:6)
“These
things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye
might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of
good
cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The world
has a song called “Don’t Worry … be
Happy!” … not knowing they will ever be that … all they’ll ever be is
worried
and unhappy.
The
problem is, that anything the world does, is
simply pumping up the flesh …. before depression and suicide sets in.
So … the
world has to continuously pump themselves up with the next excitement …
like a
deflating tyre … and of course the flesh is never satisfied as it wants
more
and more and more….
Conversely,
people try the opposite by neglecting,
indeed crushing, the flesh … and that … not in any honour to the
satisfying of
the flesh (Colossians 2:23) … in a word … useless!
Christians,
no matter what the problem, can take it
to the Lord and he’ll ‘fix’ things up … such that we can never be
unhappy
(Philippians 4:6; Ephesians 5:20).
The world
forfeits this privilege by rejecting the
only one who can help them of good cheer.
Number 14:
“Beating the air”
“I
therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight
I, not as one that beateth the air:” (1 Corinthians 9:26)
Similar
expressions are “beating your head against
a brick wall” or “spinning your wheels” or “for no purpose”.
Of course
the unbeliever has no purpose in life
except the physical … and doesn’t know about his true purpose in life
on earth.
It should be of no surprise it is called a ‘rat race’ … running around
in
circles down here … then he dies … goes to hell … and burns forever!
How much
is a soul worth? (Mark 8:36)
Number 16: Some days you just feel “bent out of shape”
Number 17: “Beside himself”
