“WHY DIDN’T THE JEWS

BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST?”

At the time of Christ on earth, the Jews were being persecuted by the Roman empire.

Their promised Messiah and deliverer, that they were looking and waiting for, was to be a military man – a powerful warrior that would overthrow the oppressive Romans.

Furthermore, many of the priests and those in high places, would have lost their powerful positions, money and prestige if the ordinary Jew would worship Jesus. Furthermore, the Jewish politicians and priests were given favours by the Romans.

It must be remembered, it was not the ordinary Jewish man, that is the general population, that crucified Jesus, but the high priests that stirred up the crowd. Why? Jesus had gone around healing, feeding and forgiving people’s sins .. and the Jewish authorities were very, very jealous and were glad to kill Jesus.

The ordinary man loved Jesus Christ but was easily swayed.

But the prophecy of the Old Testament said that Israel would reject Jesus. It was foretold … and nothing could be done about it. God’s future history has to and was going to run its course … come rain, hail or shine.

Jesus Christ claimed he was the Son of God … that he was God manifest in the flesh. Why? He went around forgiving sins and only God could do that.

“For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” (John 10:33).

“Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? “(Mark 2:7)

Jesus’ own words were “But that ye may know that the Son of man (Jesus) hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)” (Mark 2:10).

Was Jesus lying that he could forgive sins? No. Jesus never lied, did no sin and knew no sin (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5) and was approved of by God (Acts 2:22).

Q: “Was Jesus a good man?”

A: “Oh yes” people say.

Q: “Do good men ever lie?”

A: “No, they don’t” people reply.

Q: “Was Jesus a lunatic?”

A: “Oh no! Definitely not!” they reply

Q: “Then that would make him the Lord wouldn’t it?”

A: “Yes!”

Therefore with common reasoning you can prove that Jesus was God in the flesh. There are only three possibilities who Jesus was … he was either the Lord, a lunatic or a liar. … and as everyone agrees, he was not the last two.
