QUESTION: “SO … YOU LIKE TO HAVE A BET?”

                     (Part 1 of 2)
ANSWER: “ABSOLUTELY … I DON’T MIND A FLUTTER!”

 EXPLANATION:
How much would you bet on flipping a coin and turning up ‘heads’?
Five dollars?
Ten dollars?
Your soul?

Flutter? The origin of the word comes from the heart missing a beat or two, called a flutter, when nervously awaiting an outcome. Also known as ‘holding one’s breath’.
A flutter denotes instability, nervousness and uncertainty.

“TWO UP” ANYONE?
In the early days of Australia’s gold rushes, miners had little entertainment, and so they invented a game called “Two Up”, whereby the master of ceremonies in the ring would place TWO coins on a small paddle of wood and toss them UP into the air so that the gamblers could place their money on the probability of ‘Two Heads’, ‘Two Tails’ or ‘Head and Tail’ turning up.

Fortunes were won and lost … mainly the latter … and so the Australian Government passed a law banning the game, so as to protect drunken miners from losing their life savings. In addition men got carried away in the heat of the moment with fights, deaths, suicides and violence following this game.

Now there’s a far more serious game called “Where will you spend eternity?”.

Most people think the outcome is .50:50 like the game of “Two Up”.

But let’s start at the beginning.

THE REASON THE BIBLE IS TRUE AND 100% ACCURATE
It’s called prophecy.

All other religions and their ‘sacred’ texts contain nothing about the future. And of course are we to be surprised? God says
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare (this not just tell or perhaps I’ve had a thought bubble): BEFORE they spring forth I tell you of them. Isaiah 42:9

If the authors of other religions had assayed/attempted/tried to foretell future events, their non-fulfilment would be evidence enough to thoroughly discredit them and their writings.

Fulfilled prophecy is absolute evidence that the Scriptures, the King James Bible, the Authorized Bible, is better evidence of the authenticity and inspiration of the King James than all the miracles in the world.

Prophecy is not “Having a calculated guess-timate” or “It is highly probable that…” or “We can assume that …” like Weather and Climate forecasts.

THE FATE OF FALSE PROPHETS …
And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; …Deut 13:1, 3, 5.

Ouch! Maybe if the modern day ‘prophet’ should read and understand, he or she would not be so eager to climb into the pulpit. One hundred percent accuracy in telling the future is needed! Yes ... we’ve all heard them … “God is sweeping this nation…” “There’s a revival going on today …” and so on.

HISTORY WRITTEN IN ADVANCE
Just as metal component manufacturing factories have templates and molds into which the molten lead/metal is poured, then prophecy is the hot liquid that God uses to form and bring about the future in exact detail. Truly “Prophecy is the TEMPLATE OF HISTORY”.

SOME POINTS ON PROPHECY
1. Two thirds of the Scriptures is prophecy either in type, symbol or direct statement
2. More than one-half of the Old Testament prophecies, and nearly all of the New Testament prophecies, point to events in the future.
3. Men and women need the sure word of prophecy to light their way in this Dark World (2Pet 1:19)
4. When people see that God has a plan and purpose they can take heart that their faith is not in vain.
5. The religious leaders of Christ’s day were not students of prophecy so they failed to recognize Christ when he came.
6. Like today, many religious people have given up saying “Where is the promise of his coming” (2Peter 3:4)

THERE ARE THREE BASIC PROPHETIC PERIODS
1. Past – these have already been fulfilled
2. Present – these refer to the current state of the Jews, the other Nations and the moral and religious characteristics of today
3. Future – these are yet to be fulfilled

THE FIVE REQUIREMENTS OF GENUINE PROPHECY
1. It must have been made, stated and made known PRIOR to its being fulfilled.

2. It must have been devoid of human reasoning, that is, having a total absence of all HUMAN FORESIGHT

3. It must give DETAILS

4. A SUFFICIENT TIME LAPSE MUST HAVE OCCURRED BETWEEN THE DECLARATION AND FULFILMENT.
This time lapse excludes the prophet, and or any interested party, from bringing about the fulfilment of the prophecy … like several hundreds of years.

 5. There must be CLEAR AND EVIDENT PROOF OF THE FULFILMENT OF THE PROPHECY.

 This is where THE LAW OF COMPOUNDING PROBABILITY pokes its head in the door.
