Read Exodus 12:1-4,5-8,9-12,13
“… In the
tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb,
according
to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: And ye shall keep
it up
until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly
of the
congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.” (Exodus 12:3, 6)
Christ was
separated and under scrutiny for the four
days from the Sunday he rode into Jerusalem to the Wednesday when
he was
put on the cross.
2. PERFECT
LAMB WITH NO BLEMISHES … A PERFECT LAMB
“Your lamb
shall be without blemish, a male
of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the
goats:”
(Exodus 12:5)
Christ
knew no sin 2 Corinthians 5:21); did no sin
(1 Peter 2:22); no guile found in his mouth (1 Peter 2:22); and no sin
in him
(1 John 3:5)
3. ALL
WERE SINNERS
Every
individual household, and indeed, the
individuals in the house, were to partake of the killing of the lamb,
not just
the priests on behalf of the people, as God commanded “… the whole
congregation of Israel shall kill it …” (Exodus 12:6).
Today, everyone
individual is accountable to
God the Father as a sinner, and all must have the lamb, Jesus Christ.
As Paul
explained to the jailer “… and thy
house” had to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as follows …
“And they
said, Believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house … And when
he had
brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing
in God with all his house.” (Acts 16:31, 34)
4. WHEN
GOD SEES THE BLOOD …
NOT WHEN
GOD SEES YOU DRINK THE BLOOD! …
NOT WHEN
GOD SEES YOU SPLASH WATER ON THE DOOR
POSTS!
“And the
blood shall be to you for a token upon the
houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over
you, and
the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land
of
Egypt.” (Exodus 12:13)
Hello you Catholics
… no drinking of the
blood is necessary to get saved!
Furthermore,
you Baptists … God saw no water
BEFORE or AFTER the blood on the doorposts!
The ONLY
water that should be evident
in churches today should be the water of the word
(Ephesians 5:26) … that is … apart from the
water in the toilets; and the water for the fresh flowers in the vases;
… and
of course … the water in the kitchen sink for drinking.
5. ONCE
AGAIN NO WATER BUT ROASTED
“And they
shall eat the flesh in that night,
roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they
shall eat
it. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast
with
fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.” (Exodus
12:8-9)
Christ’s
final words on the cross were “I
thirst” (John 19:28) … not “I’m drowning in water”!
6. ISRAEL
ATE THE ACTUAL FLESH PASSOVER LAMB
“And THEY
SHALL EAT THE FLESH IN THAT NIGHT,
roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs THEY
SHALL EAT
IT.” (Exodus 12:8)
Today,
Christians eat Jesus just as he eats God the
Father … spiritual flesh … as follows …
“He that
eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood,
dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I
live
by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This
is that
bread which came down from heaven: NOT AS YOUR FATHERS DID
EAT MANNA,
and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.” (John
6:56-58)
7. NO
BROKEN BONES
“In one
house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not
carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither
shall ye
break a bone thereof.” (Exodus 12:46)
“He
keepeth all his bones: not one of them is
broken.” (Psalm 34:20)
The exodus
Passover lamb would have no broken
bones, and as Christians today, we are members of his body and bones
((Ephesians 5:30).
The
church, being Christ’s body, is also to be
undivided with no broken bones (1 Corinthians 1:10).
